Week of April 24, 2000 The Lee Island Coast Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) has reorganized its marketing department. Promoted to director of sales is Pamela Johnson, CDME. Replacing her position as the director of advertising is Alis Jordan. In addition, the public relations department is now the communications department with Nancy Hamilton, APR, as director, while Judi Durant now heads the visitor/community relations department. The West Wind Inn on Sanibel Island has been voted The Best Hotel/Motel for the second consecutive year by the Island Reporter/Captiva Current newspapers. This Gulf front inn offers comfortable efficiencies. Contact: Jay Halcrow, 941-472-1541. This March was the busiest month on record for the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. All told, 670,815 passengers (up 1.58 percent from 1999) and 2.8 million pounds of cargo (up 9.5 percent over 1999) moved through the airport. Contact: Laska Ryan, 941-768-4379. MeriStar Hotels & Resorts is offering Florida residents specials for Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-30, at South Seas Resort on Captiva Island. The package requires a three-night minimum and rates start at $136 per night.
